Since water does not run uphill the water puddles and gravity will not allow water to flow away from the property. Puddles or standing water?
Water should drain from all locations in your yard. If a puddle remains longer than 30 minutes after a rainstorm, you probably have a drainage issue. The biggest concern is the breeding grounds for mosquitoes. These are created when the puddles remain in the yard for long periods of time.
